P2 to Firestore drive dubbing ?

hi all,

can you dubb footage from P2 card to Firestore .. this would allow me to use my P2 card for intervalometer / variable frame rates and the firestore for long interviews and concerts ...

anyone know this one

Yes, this is possible. Simply connect FS-100 to the HVX FireWire port, playback the content on the P2 card, and manually trigger record on the FS-100. I don't think this works with the pN modes or the VFR stuff though. I was not clear if this output over the FireWire port when playing back. Maybe someone else knows.

VFR works on the FS-100. pNative is something Panasonic chose for some absurd reason to not send through the firewire cable.

If you just want to off load clips to a hard drive, I'd use one attached to a Laptop, or a self-powered drive. Copying the P2 data over is much faster than real-time playback and recording. Just a thought.

And once again, yes, variable frame rate data is recorded when using the FS-100. Very cool!
