P2 to Film

dvfilm.com has some suggested settings on their site. Basically if you're transferring to film you need to take your suggested settings from the film transfer house you plan on using. As for recording format, 1080/24pA is the way to go.

Your favorite feature film setting.

Your favorite feature film setting.

Barry,
Just watched your HVX BOOTCAMP a second time, I loved it thanks. It's worth every penny. I know you had to be general to cover all aspects of the camera, But is it possible for you to post some of the scene files that you like most for a feature film, or film like look I haven't secured a distributor yet and I want to be as compatible as possible. It will probably be straight to DVD but you never know. What is the best format? It looks like HD 720p 24pn is the way to go, I think? I am editing with avid pro and I know I can do a lot in post, but would like to limit that. I am new to the HVX 200. I have decided to use P2 cards in lieu of the firestore FS 100 and would appreciate any and all input.
Thanks

720/24pN is the most space-efficent way to go. I prefer 1080/24pA, but if you're editing on Avid you don't really (currently) have the option to use that mode so yes, 720/24pN would be your recommended mode.

I think Michael Phillips said that the next version of Avid is supposed to support 1080/24pA.

As for scene file settings, there is no one magic recipe. There are dozens and dozens of different looks, just like there are many film stocks.
