what are the possiblity of redoing the project with the project file or even recapture from the project from the already done project or if we are doing in another system..in short how can we connect the project latter ..how does TIMECODE concept work..when the footage is transferred from P2 to HDD . how does offline work- if at all it can be done . TIA .

You don't capture at all. The camera captures it when it writes it to the card, and the footage gets stored as computer files. When you archive your project you'd archive the footage files; when you restore the project you'll be ready to edit because everything will be restored. There's never a need to "recapture" anything.

Timecode is written in the files in SMPTE standard format, but it's not something you need to fret over like we used to have to do with tape. Timecode can be useful for matching multi-camera shots, but for main editing you won't really even need to worry about it.

And offlining is something you shouldn't have to worry about either. Even a reasonably low-end Mac can handle the full-resolution full-frame-rate video; offlining would just introduce hassles into the workflow that you don't really need. However, the P2 MXF file format does provide for the possibility of proxies, so it's possible that someday some editing program would introduce linked proxies to the files; I doubt it though, as we go forward and computers get faster and storage gets bigger and cheaper, the idea of proxies becomes less and less interesting.

okay..but in case if it happens

okay..but in case if it happens

i understand that there is NO capture..but it looks one has to always SAVE the footage in HDD when we bring from P2 to the HDD...unlike tape where we can always erase and can make it thro recapture wit project file . where as in P2 DOMAIN one has to always HOLD THOSE FOOTAGE/FILE safely..in case if something hapens to the footage..cant even think. what is ur views on this
barry thanks for ur answers.

You just back it up somewhere. Whether that's on DVDs or leave it on hard disks or back it up to data tape. A 200gb data tape is maybe $100 if you go with LTO3. So you back up your footage, but you back it up as *data*, not as "video". Then when you restore it, it's ready to go.
