P2 Testing problem

Hello,

Thanks to anyone who may help here.

I've got some P2 projects on the horizon and am starting to do some testing.

Someone gave me some P2 media to test. It's on a DVD.

Has a "Contents" folder and "last clip" icon. Within the "Contents" folder is
of course the "voice"/"video" etc. folder.

I have copied the stuff off the dvd and dragged it to one of my SCSI drive partitions.

My impression was that I would open a project in the appropriate format..
create a bin...under File is "Import P2" / clips to bin /highlight just the contents folder and that was it.

The error I get is " No clips were found! Are you sure you selected a P2 Card
media directory?"

I'm a bit of a newbie with P2. Can anyone explain what's happening here?

The files in the "Clips" folder are XML docs.

Thanks

You have to select the root of the directory. Not the contents folder. So try selecting the folder above the Contents folder. It should work then.

If that doesn't work, you will have to bring the media in manually into the MXF folder (only the media from the Audio and Video directories), and pull the clips into your project through media tool.

Thanks. I've copied the "contents" etc. to a partition on my SCSI array.

I've since selected that partition for "clips to bin" as it is the only "folder" so to
speak above the contents folder. Should I just make a new folder and put the stuff in there. If so is there a naming protocol for such a folder?

Thanks.

Just tried it, and got same error...though it did seem to go through some kind of indexing or scanning of the drive this time which it had not before.

Think I got it. Thanks.

I didn't keep the same name that was on the original root folder that I copied
off of DVD.

Thank you.

please shnit , i think i have the same problem , i think..... can you lead me step by step , im new to this
thank you

I have a whole bunch of P2 backed up to data DVD that I can't get to work, I always get that same error, shnit.

I'd be interested in knowing what got it to work?
