P2/SXS card reader...YOUTAKA

Hi George,

If you get one install it and let us know, it's not an expensive outlay, I'm guessing it will not work, but I may be wrong.
Leopard, Snow leopard, now Lion Kext files will probably not recognize the readers chip.
to have a driver / kext written is simply out of the question.

I've had some dealing with Taiwan makers in the past, they build interesting products, but they don't / can't test and support them across all platforms, especially Apple.
Their name "You Taka", sounds iffy to me.

Cheers and good luck.

Guys I can, as of today, confirm that this works! I've had it 10 months but it never worked properly - I kept on at Mark (the seller in Taiwan) and he worked to get me a new shorter ribbon cable and now it works. There was too much voltage drop on the old longer original cable (incredible but true...). I'm delighted it works. Cheers.

Better to just blow the budget on the pana PCD-2 reader, works great , connects easy via USB and is not a budget breaker like other 5 slot solutions.
I bought one, and after two years of testing and builds, I retired many other cheap jap & taiwan readers/cables/cases to the P2 scrap heap.

You were lucky you only waited for 10 months to get it working, PCD-2 works straight out of the box (well done pana for the budget users)

cheers

The price on the Pana one isn't too horrendous but its USB2 and I have 64Gb P2 cards! I'll persevere with the Taiwanese one now its up and working as its 3 x quicker x 2! Fingers crossed it keeps working then:)
