P2 Store Question

So we got a rented P2 store for a shoot and i did all the steps to format the drive but when i open up my disc utility (Mac) i notice there are still discs that show up (they don't mount, but it looks like they're still there).

What is the way to completely erased everything on the P2 Store and is there a way to check to see how much space is left on the drive?

thanks
danny

Can the P2 store be used as an external P2 drive? In other words can it be plugged into to a computer and offload P2 cards directly into the computer or do you have to capture the card to the P2 store drive then offload to the computer?

YES. this is what i do currently on my mac

On a Mac..... a P 2 store will work as a bucket to dump cards into or as a card reader for individual cards. And then there is a AJ PCD 20.

Does anyone know if the P2 store will ever be able to work on Intel based Macs?

I do it everyday on a MacBook Pro. I've even got 'er all set up to work on XP via Bootcamp if need be.

Why does Panasonic website said that P2 store does not work with intel based mac? I will buy P2 store if it really works with Mac Book Pro and 16gig P2. I heard that P2 store is discomtinued? (Why? Any new replacement looming on the way?)

The answer is unquestionably YES. With both the PC and Windows.

It already does. I've used it with a MacBook and seen others use it with MacBook Pros...

Please explain how? Because I have been searching and googling and I can't figure it out. The instruction manual made it seem like I could set an Intel Mac mode on the p2store using the p2 manager software. I have an old powerbook that I got to run the p2 manager software, but the Intel Mac option is not on the screen it's supposed to be on.

When I plug my p2store into my MacBook Pro, I can see the grayed out partitions in Disk Utility, but I cannot mount them.

Pop a P2 card with footage into the P2 Store at that stage, and it will mount on the Mac desktop as a NO_NAME volume.

Of course you can. Make sure the P2 Store is in Mac-compatible mode, and connect it via USB. The "USB" light on the P2 Store should show up as orange, and then the various "no name" volumes should pop up on your desktop.

I'm sorry to continue this thread with stupid questions, but how do I put the p2store into Mac compatible mode? As I said in my earlier post, I tried to do it from a powerbook using the manager software, but the option was not on the "Setup" page where it was supposed to be. Do I have to find a Windows PC just to get my p2store working?

No, you have to do the magical three-button press. Look at the sticky in the HVX200 technical section for "useful HVX links" and the instructions are in there.

1000 thanks and more, Barry. It's now working perfectly! Hopefully this thread will show up for anyone in the future having the same problem.
