P2 Store Problems - USB 2.0 External Drives?

I set up the P2 Store to a 120 GB 7200 USB 2.0 drive through my laptop. I've not partitioned the USB 2.0 external drive in any way, it is FAT 32.

I'm now trying to copy the Contents folder and Text files (P2 Store) into individual folders on the USB 2.0 drive.

They're named things like:

shoot_2apr06_h

...to correspond to the H-V partitions on the P2 Store.

Am I the only one who is having trouble with this procedure - is there a definitive Panasonic piece of literature I'm missing on how to do this?

Is it absolutely necessary to pre-partition the USB 2.0 external drive - can I still make the files into "virtual p2s" if it isn't partitioned?

This kinda sucks.

You definitely don't have to partition the USB2 drive. I work with 300gb USB2 drives all the time, with no partitions.

You can make individually-named folders on the USB2 drive and copy the "contents" and "lastclip.txt" from the P2 Store into the folders.
