P2 Reader problems

I worked on a pilates video yesterday and they rented the 5-slot P2 reader because we were working 3 cameras. The night before the set, the DP tried to get the reader to work and could not. When he plugged it into his G5 or his Powerbook, it gave an error -- something akin to "Please eject this drive." He said he installed the P2 driver and was using P2 cards that contained footage.

Luckily, we were able to obtain two P2 Stores before we started shooting, and those got us through the day with no problems.

Anyone know what we were doing wrong with the 5-slot P2 reader?

Not had experience with P2 Reader, but P2 is sometimes sensitive to the order that you connect things. Maybe you could try plugging into live computer first, then reader; then reverse. May also make a difference whether there's a card in the reader before you connect or if you insert after the components have exchanged hellos. And it IS important the cards did contain footage: if none, there is no volume so Mac OS definitely can't mount it.
