P2 question

Dont know much about this camera, but is seems like the P2 card is not for sale anywhere? Does the camera run without one ?

Can the 200 go right to Mini-DV ? Or is it only p2 card -> Mini Dv ? I have a dealer saying I will get one in FEB but why should I get one with no P2 cards around. . ..

Can one create a DYI storage solution ? Firestore looks too pricey at this time. If no P2 cards around, seems like a DYI solution may be financial feasible. . .

Is the camera hotswappable with USB 2.0 solution products ? Dont think so but. . .

..and for us PC based guys, HVX200-> Laptop firewire ? Makes a lot more sense then a P2 card which, unless you get it with a camera, do not seem to be for sale. Most HVX200's for sale under 6K do not apparentely come with a P2 card. I know the first batch did, I dont know about the next shipments. ...

P2s have been and are extra but 4 gig cards are only $650 each so it's not that bad. As fas as PCs go I don't beliieve there is a streaming solution yet, but I'm sure many software companys are hard at work making it possible. Vegas is thhe only one that seems to be ignoring it completely. Avid already supports the Codec on the PC but I don't know about streaming. Also there will soon be an HD-Rack from Serious magic that can do this (Sorry, I don't know when).
I'm a Mac guy.
