This may belong in the DIY forum, but I think for obvious reasons, Ill post it here.
Like many of you, I'm sure you have had issues grabbing the P2 cards out of a Laptop or camera at one time or another. My laptop has a broken PCMCIA Ejector button so it is always difficult.
Well, I was on a shoot the other day when my jacket got caught on a Barbed wire fence. It was ripped beyond repair. For reasons not worth going into here, we were rushing to offload the cards. My laptop's missing button made the person Offloading, quite difficult to be with, to remain polite.
After we were well into the shoot, a Card came back to me with a hunk of my ripped Polyester jacket hanging off the end. (there was a message written on it that I will not disclose here) The strip of Polyester was attached with a little Grip tape. Now the intention was to send me a message, not solve a problem. However, his frustration solved us all a ton of issues.
This was an instant HIT! That little hunk of Nylon acts as something to Tug on, to pull the cards out of stubborn slots. Because my Jacket was multi Colored, it also allowed us to color code the Cards!
When we got back I found some better Tape to attach tuggers on the cards with. Now, after a bunch of use, the tape will leave a sticky residue, but a little light use of Goo-B-Gone will fix that. I use clear Packing tape. It seems to work the best. It would be nice if Panasonic included a pigtail as an option. They are priceless and also, don't get in the way when I close the P2door on the Camera.
I know this post could have been shorter, but the story was worth mentioning.
Happy New Years!
