P2 over G4 Powerbook offload question

Is there an advantage using a P2 Store over using a G4 Laptop in the field? Thanks so much.

Jeff

If you need total speed, then yeah.

BUT if you want to keep things organized, and matching to a log book then no.

I have been out in the backwoods of GA and TN with a powerbook and a HD sitting in an expedition on an inverter...It works. More helpful if you have someone that run and do the dumping for you, but I didn't and managed just fine.

If you use the P2 Store you will have nameless unorganized clips. The only way to circumvent that is to attach metadata using the SD card...which is a whole other rigamaroll...

Thanks so much...So you're saying, in the long run, it would be somewhat easier to use a G4 powerbook to offload the P2's because you can rename the files...I'm about to take the HVX plunge!

DONT rename files.

Ake new folders and drag the files off the P2 into the new folders...I usually call them ROLL 01, 02, etc.
