P2 or Firestore

or visa versa....Is there any benefit other than if you're using a stabilizer to using P2 cards as opposed to a Firestore Drive that anyone can tell.

The only thing I can think of is if a Firestore has an error, a lot of footage has the potential of becoming corupt as opposed to constantly switching P2 Cards. Anyone else have any thoughts...

Thanks so much...

Well, there you have a camcorder with DV tape drive, two P2 drives, and you only use the firewire out plug...It's such a waste of weight, of construction and possibilities.

It gives you more recording time , so if the P2 was not there and the tape was not there and the Firestore was build in, then it would make more sense. Now you add a pound weight extra and a new battery. You lose some, you win some.

I will be in Europe during U.S summer shooting a few things.
I currently have a 4g card. I was thinking to buy the Firestore but I have a feeling that it will be an extra weight for the trip.

Still, shooting everything in HD would be cool.... but still ... the weight... err...

I would also like some opinions about the firestore from people who already bought it.

I am testing the FS-100 now for a magazine review. Love to hear from anyone else using a Firestore with an HVX200. We've been working with the FS-100 all day and can't get it to record anything! I'll have to call their tech support later this morning to find out what's up.

It's very light, attaches to the HVX200 in a very strange way. Good for tripod use, but not for hand held or stableizer use. I think it sticks up looking back at you on top. But I'm waiting for that attachment to show up to verify how it attaches.

If anyone is using one, PLEASE contact me, ben at wolfdigitalmedia dot net. But ONLY if you are already using an FS-100 on an HVX200.
