P2 Offload problem....

I've offloaded a total of 3 full 4gb P2 cards worth of data.... on my 4th while the HVX was connected direct to my 17" Powerbook and offloading to a blank folder on the desktop the transfer just STOPPED. The P2 activity light continued to flash but the transfer was stuck at 810.2mb Il eft it like that for about 10 mintues before turning the camera off and trying again. This time it got to 3.12gb of 3.24GB before freezing. Trying again got 90.4mb. I deleted a few clips and tried again and kept doing it till I got all the clips that were left off.

At the moment I'm just 'playing' with the HVX to see what it can do and give myself some experience before I go to India, Tibet and China etc.

This experience has kinda worried me! I've formatted the P2 card and hope that this won't happen again but has anyone else come across this problem and if so what causes it and how can it be prevented?

I've had it not recognize a card before, but I've never had the transfer stop in the middle with a P2 card. (and usually that got fixed by restarting the laptop)

Did you try repairing the clips in the camera? Why did you transfer from the camera rather than the powerbook's PCMIA slot?

The clips were showing as fine in camera... as for not using the internal PMCIA slot..... well I'm trying to handle the P2 card as little as possible. As I've not had any problems before I didn't think that going via camera would be an issue. If it happens again I'll try the internal slot.

Its good to here that I seem to be the only one who has seen this.... hopefully it was just a one off.
