P2 offload help... I'm probably just stupid

Just received my first P2 card today and shot a few clips with it just to figure out the workflow. I have a Macbook Pro and the latest version of Final Cut and the downloaded P2 driver.

I'm trying to copy my P2 footage to my laptop but I can't get it to work. I have the camera connected via firewire. The computer shows it's connected, but I can't figure out how to get to the P2 card so I can copy it to the computer.

I'm dumb and can't figure this out. Please help!

1. Put the camera into MCR mode.
2. After putting the camera into MCR mode, press and hold the MODE button for another two seconds. The camera should mount if the drivers are installed correctly.

If the computer is showing it as connected, you should have an icon on the desktop that looks like a drive. Just open that and there will be a contents folder and lastclip.txt file inside. Create a new folder on your external hard drive and drag BOTH of those items to it and let them copy.

When I go to the System Profiler, it shows the HVX is connected, but I have no icon on the desktop. Is this probably a driver problem then? I thought I had those but maybe not.

Well I've done that. Maybe I don't have the correct drivers. Where can I download those?
The drivers are on the CD that comes with the camera, or you can download them HERE.

My guess is you are making the assumption that because the camera is detected by the Mac, it will work. The camera is probably being detected as a DV/DVCProHD device, but that doesn't permit you to access the P2 cards in the camera as mass storage devices.

I meant to comment earlier, but thanks for everyone's help. I guess I didn't have the drivers after all and I didn't realize that I had to have the camera on device instead of host. But it works now.

Thanks again.
