P2 not recognized

Being very new with P2, Im stumped on how to get my laptop to recognize it properly. It appears the driver is installed, and the card works fine in the camera, but I get a yellow warning triangle in device manager, though it does see that the P2 card is installed (Im using an adapter by Amtron to use the express slot on my laptop). Do I need Vista Business as the P2 instructions claim ? The Panasonic download site doesnt make a distinction....just says XP and Vista... I have an old XP pro desktop, but no current method to try to use the P2 card in that application.

I get an error message that say the "the device cannot start" (code 10)

Is it possible that, even though the adapter is sold as a P2 interface solution, that the Panasonic driver software will only recognize the P2 card if it is intalled in an actual native PCMCIA slot ?

I had same problem - I went to toshiba and all over the place but all you actually need is the P2 driver from Panasonic site.

Can't remember exactly how I found it now and I've just looked to see if I could see what I downloaded. I suggest start with the P2 viewer from panasonic site but I don't think that was enough there was another download I had to do too.

I have all the correct drivers. I returned the adapter card and bought a used IBM Thinkpad with 2 PCMCIA slots and XP pro. Driver works fine with this configuration so perhaps the Vista vs Vista Business or XP Home vs XP pro is an issue. As I stated in the OP, the P2 driver installation manual states only Vista Business or XP pro, but the Panasonic download site makes no such distinction.

Hi I am trying to have my dell studio xps vista 64 bit recognize my p2 card. I downloaded the drivers but still the card is not seen

Any ideas?

Or to make it more specific, my laptop has an express card which i am not sure if it is the same as an PCMCIA card. In any event despite downloading drivers etc nothing seems to work, the computer will not see the p2 card
