P2 not dowloading

I used to own an HPX500 years ago, and just bought an HPX300. I shot some video with the 300 today and went to download it to a computer.
Then I realized I forgot what to do.

I am downloading directly from the camera via USB to a PC computer. The editing system is Adobe Premiere 6 (or cloud, or something).

I attached the camera (after turning it on, of course) through the USB wire - then, nothing. The computer doesn't "see" the camera. The editor was out, so I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Does the computer need some kind of software from Panasonic? Am I missing a step in my download attempt? Does the PC MODE on the camera need to be ON?

You also need to check that the camera is set to USB DEVICE and not HOST in the system setup menu and then select PCMODE to ON.

Note that there are also two USB connectors and they are marked DEVICE and HOST for the different operations.

In DEVICE mode the PC sees the cards as drives on the desktop and your edit software should be able to load them direct via the transfer window, note you may also need the correct drivers and possibly the correct codec as part of your system set-up.

In HOST mode you can plug in a USB hard drive direct to clone the cards from the camera to the drive.

We downloaded the P2 Reader and Driver to the computer, then used the DEVICE port to download the video.
It did work, thanks for the information, guys!

Good to hear it worked OK I have used P2 for nearly five years now and never had a single problem or dropped frame with it!
