P2 mobile recorder

Looks very nice!
But judging from the specifications, I don't believe it will cost anywhere around the 500USD that was rumored in other posts...easily 2K or more...

This is different from the other thingie that people are talking about. This is a portable editing station with 6 P2 slots a jog shuttle and all that. This thing will be 6k at least!
 
They had that and this item pictured below. It's a P2 viewer with the option to connect a portable powered hard drive to it. I didn't get a price but was told it would be available summer '07.

One of the Panny reps told me it would be about $12-16K (for the big one ("editing station"), not the little one!)
 
Nice! Cause the 6k portable editing station is definitely not for me or probably any other EFP HVX users.
 
They both look like a super expensive way to do something that most filmakers can do cheaper. This is for ENG with a good budget, not a purchase for the average HVX filmaker. If you have a lot of cameras shooting a boatload of footage and you need to see a rough cut as you go then it would be nice to be able to rent one of these. If do ENG, stuff that needs to be delivered finished/near-finished and right away then that would make this a nice tool. The big one sure looks cool!
Did you guys notice it is a 9-inch *WIDE* LCD, so what does that make it like 10.5 inch, not bad for review, and if you can use it as an on-line monitor for color and focus, but I still find it hard to believe it is something most would think about purchasing.
