P2 Logger Status issue, using HMC150

So, I'm currently trying to get my P2 Logger Status software to work, but nothing I do seems to work. It will open, but will not recognize my usb connection, even if the camera/computer does. If I put a card in the camera it will show up on the desktop, but the software still says to check the connection.
I've installed/uninstalled it a couple times to no avail and it's only now that noticed the system requirements state Safari Ver 2 or I.E. ver 6 or 7. Now I am running Firefox primarily but I do have Safari ver 5 installed, but due to the fact that I am on snow leopard I can't revert back to an older version of it. I would really rather not install an emulator to run I.E. just to be able to use this software but I can't figure out any other solution.
Does anyone know if this might be my issue and any other work around?

I realize the camera doesn't use P2 media and I was confused by that at first, but according to P2 Asset Support System it states that the P2 Logger Status software is use able for select AVCCAM models as well, including the HMC150. I do not know what the internet browser has to do with the installation, other than the software has to be connected to the internet to look up firmware updates. But according to the software requirments this is what it requires

Now I am running a 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Macbook Pro, with 4G of ram with MacOSX 10.6.6, with a newly bought HMC150. Since I'm new with these software and updating the firmware I was hoping someone could give me some trouble shooting tips since the PASS site doesn't offer much help.
 
Hi Colin

You really don't need that for upgrading firmware. Just download firmware file and follow the steps in the firmware upgrade manual wich you can download same place. The easiest would be getting you hands on a windows xp pc - hook the usb from hmc150/151 and you should just run the firmware .exe file and everything should go just fine. Afterwards check your firmware version in your camera following the steps described in firmware upgrade manual (the alternative method checking in the camera it self). Happy upgrading!

The PASS site tries to recommend the P2 Status Logger as the safest way to upgrade firmware cause it verifies it installed properly, but given all the issues I've encountered just trying to get the software to work I think I will follow your suggestion and do it that way.
