P2 issues...

I've having issues copying over files to my computer. On rare days when I think I'll shoot over 20 minutes I bring a laptop for offload but normally I just plug the camera into my desktop via USB 2.0 and copy the files over so I can burn them on DVD and bring them into Avid. Recently however I started having some issues. I'd try to copy the files and it would take longer than normal. I also have been experienceing the USB Disconnect message about half way into it and half to start over. Anyone else experienced this? I tried plugging it into a different port but am still having issues. Does it sound like a problem with the P2 card (One of mine I bought used and am always a bit nervous about it even though it's in good shape) or do you think maybe the USB jack on my HVX200?

Another possibility is that one of the other USB devices in your system is interfering with the transfer. If the available bandwidth or bus power are exhausted, one of the USB devices will be (I believe randomly) selected for shutdown.

You should go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager -> Universal Serial Bus Controllers and look at each of the USB controllers in your system. Open the Properties dialog for them, then go to the Advanced tab -- there you will see how much of the available bandwidth is used.

If you go to the USB Root Hubs and open the Properties dialog, in the Power tab you can see how much of the bus power is being used. A power-hungry device such as an external hard drive, scanner, webcam, or a keyboard with silly glowing LED lighting may consume so much power that something must be shut down.

That may well be it. I have been using an external harddrive. I also have not updated the firmware which I guess I should do. There isn't any way to check if there is a problem with the P2 is there? Some sort of disk scan? I wouldn't guess so since the clips all play back fine in the camera but I wanna cover every angle.
