P2 import problem

Have a clip that we have tried several ways to get into a project - direct import to FCP from p2 card - also p2cms to drive to fcp import.

Each time it goes through the motions as though it is importing to fcp but then it doesn't show up.

Trying to import the resulting QT file into FCP (or to view in QT) we get an error that it is not a movie file

Other info - Clip views fine in the camera - p2cms says it is a spanned clip

On a news deadline and pulling my hair out

thanks in advance for any help

Use Raylight, or Calibrated's MXF importer, or P2 Log Pro, to make a reference quicktime file. Any of those will let you import the clip and bypass FCP's Log & Transfer process.

Hello
Is this clip problem a result of a P2 card filling up? and switching to the 2and card during a take?
Just curious as to why this particular problem even occured .
I was told by several operators that they offload p 2 cards long before they fill up with data .
Hope Barry's suggestion works well for you !
Cheers
Bruce

I had problems with the "end of file" not being written on a FS 100 and thus having a 1.98 gb file that wasnt playing. Placing it back into the Fs S 100 and doing the "file repair" routine 3-4 times, finally brought it back to life.
I guess the same is valid for P2LogPro and the free P2CMS from panasonic.
both have file repair functions.

btw : I hate FAT 32 !!! its file size limit of 2 GB is outdated since long but still its being used all over.
