P2 help

i just recently purchased an hvx and im having trouble importing the footage onto my powerbook G4. i have the version of final cut pro 5.0.1 and it shows panasonic p2 on the import tabs but it gives me an error when i try to import. i upgraded my final cut pro to 6.0 and now there is not even a tab or text saying anything about panasonic p2. are there drivers different or is there somethin else i should do?
