P2 glitch

Has anyone encountered this type of glitch while shooting to P2? I was shooting @ 1080i / 24P, but I recall a couple times when the camera got cranky that I had ejected the card too soon, probably when it was still writing to the card, resulting in a message that I had to turn off the camera before recording again. Whether this was the case in this take, I do not know since the glitch was not noticed until far later, and I had off-loaded a number of cards to the same bin. Also, one instance in which I know I had ejeccted the card early resulted in a corrupted take that would not import into FCP at all, so that leads me to question whether the clip would have imported at all (like this one) if early-ejection were the problem.

Couple questions. Did you install the P2 disk that came with your camera and have you tried to re-import the footage from the original MXF file...if you still have it.

I am using OSX and did not install the P2 disk- I did install drivers from Panasonic's website. The original MXF files are no more.

just finished a two day shoot and am having the same problem with the footages. It only shows up one frame at a time rite? I also noticed that files transfer into the p2 store has no problem but when i injest the p2 cards in laptop to import into fcp...this happens. Anyone knows how to get rid of it or any solution? It only stays for one frame.

I had the same issue using a Verbatin 4 gigs flash memory hard drive to transfer video from my Mac to my PC. It would play great on my mac but make glitch like that on my pc.

I guess it was related to the way Pc and Mac deals with writing/ reading data but I was surprise to see how similar the glitch look like

why would you not backup your master MXF??

Because I'm just that awesome?

Really,
1) I had no previous reason to suspect that anything would go wrong by converting to quicktime straight from the cards
2) Without a 2nd AC, I needed to quickly download and be able to verify the clips were there, and importing to FCP allowed me to do a quick visual check
3) I don't have a need for the MXF files if I have quicktime

Yes, the glitch only happens for 1 frame at a time, so perhaps this can be narrowed to a problem with import/converting directly from P2 cards into FCP? I'll run some quality control tests to try to replicate the glitches, both by ejecting the cards early or just doing a direct-import.
