HPX250: P2 Formatting on Computer, Good to do, or problematic?

Ok, so now I'm thinking that I will try and swap cards during a long shoot.
Is it ok to format a P2 64gig E series card on a Mac after transferring the footage off the card?
I have heard of some people having issues with this once they try and record on the computer formatted card,
and get an error message from the camera.
Does anyone have experience with this or know the best and safest method for swapping cards?
The event is continuous so stopping the camera is not possible.

I know the safest way is to just get some extra P2 cards, but if that wasn't possible what is the next best solution?

Use P2 Viewer Plus for Mac to transfer your footage to the Mac and then you can safely format the cards with it. Best of all .... it's free.

Rock solid P2 formatter app functionality for Mac & Windows since 2011. It is the only way to format the P2 card if you need to record continuously and don't have the AG-MSU10 or other P2 recorder equipment (AG-HPD24P or AG-HPG20)
