I shot a test footage of about 18minutes of a 16GB card in DVCPRO HD on HXP502. My question is that it takes so much time for logging & transfer from MXF to FCP MOV file. why cant be done any faster like XDCAM software.

Are there any faster ways available...

Also since NEW to HD world. what is the quality difference if i shoot 1080i50i or 72050p ??? i wonder ?

There are many faster ways. You don't have to "log & transfer" at all. Get ahold of Raylight, HD Log, or MXF4QT and you won't ever have to log & transfer again if you don't want to.

Jonny, first off. Are you transferring the P2 files to your computer prior to log and transfer? If not it will take a long time if you do it from the camera. The p2 Log and transfer in FCP takes no longer than XDCam software and its built into FC, which IMO makes it easier. Or you can use something like P2 Genie.

1080/50i is interlaced 720/50p progressive and thi option handles motion much better (speaking in simple terms)

what i found was 1080i50i was smoother in motion where as 720p50 was strobic in fast or even slow pans ... i didnt like that look... ofcourse i am a video man :) hense the liking of the smooth look... but still why the diff ....?
