P2 Flow Review

In case anyone hasn't come across P2 Flow yet, it's a great utility for the Mac that makes your P2 workflow easier. It's a powerful metadata editor, it lets you quickly generate proxies of selected clips (passing them on to Compressor or other encoding apps), it has a great feature called Virtual Tape which lets you combine multiple P2 clips into a single movie, and also has some nice Final Cut Pro-specific features.

I've been using it regularly over the last several months, and recently did a review of it right here:

Let me know if anyone has questions, it would be good to see this app get some traction, and encourage the developers to create more P2 tools....

This would be a really cool feature. Most of the time I would rather have the option of telling the camera when to start a new clip rather than every time I hit the record button.

It's just a shame that it's Mac-only - they are missing a huge potential audience.

Yikes! $600.00 for P2 utility? Looks great feature-wise but I bet they won't sell a lot of copies at that price.

Thanks for the heads-up.

Well, it's $600 including additional, bundled software that lets any QuickTime app work with native P2 footage--ie, Compressor, Keynote, whatever you've got. Without that bundled software, P2 Flow is a couple hundred dollars cheaper.

I would love to see it more affordable, but for companies that deal with P2 on a daily or regular basis, $600 isn't much to spend given the time it saves in the long-run.
