P2 Files on USB disc -- how to import to FCP?

Hi,

A bit of a noob question here. I shot some P2 files, and copied them to my laptop's drive, then transferred them to a usb drive.

Now I want to edit those files in FCP.

How do I get them into FCP?

BTW, they are shot in 30p.

You neglected to indicate what you copied.

Did you keep the full p2 volume folder intact complete with lastclip.txt file and six other folders all in the p2 folder?

And which version of FCP? 5.1.4 was import p2 volume and FCP 6.x was log and transfer.

Yes, I kept the full P2 volume folder intact complete with lastclip.txt.

It's FCP6.

FILE>LOG AND TRANSFER. Click on the folder to navigate to the USB drive and the P2 folders contained there. NOW...what this will do is copy the files and wrap them into a Quicktime wrapper, and put them onto another drive...so you should have a drive dedicated to media storage.
