I have to say that P2 is the best format i have ever used. I have used them all from 1" TO DIGI BETA.

But the one thing i hate is not being able to just double click on a file in a folder and play it quickly like you can with an AVI file.

has anyone developed a VERY VERY simple player like WMP to just preview clips.

I have P2 forge but hate the user interface and find it a bit clunky.

With P2 Viewer or P2 CMS you can play clips on your hard drive provided you've set up a virtual P2 card for the directory where the files are located.

Having said that, I can play MXF files in Windows Media Player, albeit without sound. I think that's due to having DV Rack 2.1 HD installed, which includes the DVCProHD Decoder, allowing any DirectShow application to decode the video.
