P2 Confusion

I just got a Panasonic HVX200 and am new to using a card instead of tape. The computer I'd like to use is a Mac with an OS 10.4.11. I've installed the software and tried to download the P2CMS but it wasn't recognized by the computer. Any one have any words of wisdom especially regarding whether or not I can achieve what I need to with this computer?
Thanks!

Did you install the P2 drivers, configure the camera for IEEE DEVICE mode (not IEEE HOST) and enter MCR mode by pressing the MCR button to switch to playback mode and then pressing and holding the MCR button for three seconds?

I didn't press and hold the MCR button for three seconds. Will try that.

Now I'm wondering if I need to upgrade from FCP 6 to 7 besides.

Thanks for your reply!

I think in FCP 6 you could "Import" P2 material not L&T
Make sure you have the P2CMS compatible with your OS version.

If Your running an old mac with 10.4.11, you may be behind the eight-ball with all the newer plug-ins and programs..
Get a newer faster mac, with a more current leopard/snow leopard OS. any intel mac is what i'd recommend, just get one that fits your budget, there are plenty powerful 08-09 models out there that are very good value and can run Leopard or Snow Leopard, do an ebay search.. Just my thoughts. Oh, and put in a SSD OS drive, you'll never look back.
PS, Lion OS is to new at this stage IMO.

cheers

P2 Deck not recognized

P2 Deck not recognized

Thanks to all for your replies. I've made some headway ....was able to import directly from camera after going to the menu and 'Other Functions' and choosing PC Mode- 1394Device. Now I'm trying to import P2 cards onto a deck and thence into computer. When I plug in the HDD P2 device I get a dialogue box that says that the disk is not readable. I installed the P2 driver from Panasonic's website so everything should be there for me to be able to use the device. Any suggestions?
Thanks
