Atlast i have panasonic hpx 300 on my hands, i shot some footage and i connected the camera through usb 2.0 to pc, i set up the edius for the proper project setting i.e. 1980x1080 for avc-i 100 1080-59.94i, i can see the p2 card in p2 viewer, but cant see the p2 clips, what am i doing wrong, please help,

I use Premiere, but I assume there are some similarities. I assume you copied the directory structure from the card to the hard drive (Contents folder and lastclip.txt file) I don't use the P2 viewer - I just copy each card to it's own folder. You need to get the files imported into your Edius bin, or whatever Edius calls it. I did a google search and found this link:
ftp://ftp.panasonic.com/pub/Panasonic/Drivers/PBTS/papers/WP_P2Workflow_Canopus.pdf

i needed edius 5.5 because of AVC I 100 codec . the whole problem was this code, now it works smooth like silk, thx

Yep Edius 5.5 is great for the 300, plug in, goto p2 select in tools and copy into your project.

My mistake when i got the 371 was to just to point the project at my p2 contents on my hard drive and i wondered why i had no sound lol. After a quick read of the manual, id forgotten i was supposed to use the P2 select tool to let edius match the video to the sound doh.... i now use the copy & import function and it works a treat.

Your going to love the 300 it takes some great images :)

Funny you guys are discussing this I just did a comedy drama shoot on one of my HPX301's for the world cup yesterday and the director/editor is using edius and we did some tests to make sure that the footage went in smoothly.

I have been shooting AVC intra 50 at 720p as it is for web and mainstream worldwide broadcast so we didn't want to go to full AVC inra 100 1920x1080i HD.

As you say it all works a dream with 5.5 and during the tests we were getting five layers of playback on his PC with AVC intra 50 720p material.

As for me I am on final cut pro so use native ingest to pro res for all my P2 content.

I just shot a short film and a music video, ingested everything in edius 5.5, love it. Edius can play the full 1080p footage without rendering, awesome.
