P2 clips all blue dot?

I am new to using MC 4 and will mainly use a P2 workflow. I've brought P2 files (DV) in to a bin and then consolidated (so that I don't have to edit from the card). What I've noticed is that every clip originating from P2 in my timeline has a blue dot and needs rendering. Clips originating from miniDV tape off course do not. There were no effects applied to any clip. I should say the P2 material was shot at 25p "Film Cam" on a HVX200. I don't know enough yet about how Avid handles these files but if every clip from P2 needs to be rendered it's going to be a very slow and storage hungry workflow even in standard definition.
I'd welcome any advice from P2 / MC4 users regarding workflow.
Thanks,
Mark.

Ive never worked with 25p film cam footage, but have never had a P2 consolidated clip turn blue dot. After consolidation the media is on the local drive so it should work like similar to your mini DV tape.

Good questions, I'm new to working with P2 so please stay with me!
The camera settings were DV (definately not DVC pro), 526i/25p, Film Cam.
Avid MC4 project setting, 25p.
I must be missing something, as MikeyP said my material should have behaved just like miniDV. Perhaps there was something odd in my consolidate settings?

Yeah - check your consolidate settings (you may have transcoded). Blue dot odd though on 'rushes'!

In MC4 you can (quite brilliantly) mix frame rates and (although mixing any formats is ultimately poor workflow) even raster dimensions and HD/SD. No blue dots...

OK what I meant by "project setting" was the option chosen when you start a new project. 25p is the only option for SD isn't it?
Anyway upon examining the clip details in the bin the clips originating from tape say "DV 420p" the clips from P2 say "DV 420". Is this the conflict that means P2 material needs rendering? I'm a bit confused as both were shot using the same settings in the camera.
My work around at the moment is to transcode P2 clips to 420p before editing.

NO! You need to know exactly what your footage is mate, what it was shot on and what the cam settings was. Check the Metadata using P2 viewer or the camera.
