P2 clip won't transfer, ingest, or copy. CSPAN needs it fast, help!

Hi all. I shot a speech on my HPX170, rolling continuously for an hour. 720/24PN. Copied the P2 card (Contents folder and Lastclip.txt) to my laptop. When I tried to copy to an external drive for backup, an error message said one of the MXF files can't be read or written. This particular file is one of several spanned clips, about in the middle of the speech. In FCP7 Log & Transfer, all the files transferred fine except this one. This clip plays fine in the L&T preview window, but gets a general red stop sign error signal after the progress bar goes about a fifth of the way. On my target disc, the MOV is just over 2 minutes instead of the full 12+ of a spanned clip. In P2CMS the clip also plays fine, but when I try to ingest it gives be the "bounced back" error message.

I'm currently copying back to a P2 card to try and use my camera's Repair Clip function. Anything else I should try?

Thank you,
Cully

If you cannot copy content from one drive to the other, it's usually not related to your video file. Sounds like you have a disk error.

You didn't format the original card, did you?

Hi,

Do not use P2CMS to copy the files back to the card. Take the Contents Folder and the Lst Clip.txt file and drag them back to the card. Have the camera look at it. Did you lock the card before you put it into the MAC? If not, you may have a card that is too full as the MAC will index anything that is not protected. A spanned clip says your card is full(but it isn't entirely) If the Mac then indexes that card, it will be too full and the last clip may be affected. Find a buddy with a PC and have him remove the MAC indexing. It should then be fine.

Thanks all.
Benoit, I'll try Treasured on the clip.
I was able to drag the MXF file onto my FCP timeline and work with it there. The corrupted section was only 16 frames long, and I was able to access the remaining ten minutes of the clip. What a relief!
Thanks again,
Cully
