P2 Cards Issues

My 16GB P2 Card is only letting me shoot 17 minutes at 720/24. Should I not be able to shoot 40 minutes with these settings?

Also, the recording time on my HVX200 keeps going up, even after I've dumped and deleted the footage off the P2 Card. It's at 52 minutes.
 
You must be in 24pN mode -- not 24P mode -- to get 40 minutes. If you're in 24P mode, it's recorded in a 60 FPS stream which takes up a gigabyte per minute (just like 1080 will).
 
You mean the recording time in the camera stats? Doesn't have anything to do with the contents of the card.
 
If this is the Other Functions screen, if you're talking about the Hour Meter, that tells you much head time has been used on the tape cylinder.

If you're talking about Operation (P2), that's the total amount of time the camera has been in operation.
