p2 card - which editing platform works?

I am getting some P2 captured footage and I DON'T have FCP, but use Sony Vegas. Is this going to be ok for editing the footage from the P2 cards?
Ok, after some research a more specific question :

IS there anything other then Raylight or Cineform for converting the mxf files if I want to edit in Vegas? What kind of system am I looking at here for editing?

Thanks in advance

I have fcp 6, when I get my hvx, will I still need to get raylight or cineform to be able to edit the footage?

David:

PP CS3 handles the native footage very well, better than anything except Edius Broadcast.

mrbrycel:

It's a good idea to get Raylight for the Mac, but no, you don't need either of those to edit P2 footage in FCP 6. You can use Log and Transfer to transcode it to QuickTime.

I'm not trying to hijack the thread, but I have a scenario that I'd love to get some opinions on:

SCENARIO: If you shoot the HVX via P2 and are a FCP person with a Mac, but need to provide your footage to a client who edits in Vegas on a PC (not sure about the version they use), and the client may not know much about anything other than DV and HDV workflows...

QUESTION: What is the best way to get them the footage, still in HD quality? Assume 1080i/30P footage.

I'm assuming they can't use native DVCPROHD Quicktime files from the Mac, nor could they use the MXF files unless they had Raylight.

If you are using FCP to rewrap the MXF files into QuickTime containers on a Mac, you could use Raylight Decoder on a PC to open the DVCProHD QuickTime files.
