P2 card restore data after format?

Is this possible if I haven't yet recorded new footage to the card? I was shooting the other day when one of my P2 cards was giving me some kind of error when trying to record to it. I checked that the protect was off, and used my p2 store to format again but it still did the same thing. So I went the day with just 1 card, but left the second in the 2 slot anyway. I recorded some footage that I thought was to the good card, but when I transferred that to my p2 store and then offloaded the p2 contents, the last card's footage wasn't on there. Is there a way to try and recover files from a p2 card like with a hard drive? My fear is that the footage is lost when the camera tried recording to the problematic card, but I'd like to check the good card anyway in case it's still there.

Yes, you should be able to do that. A format operation basically just lays down a new FAT (File Allocation Table) and empty directory structure, and the data itself should still be there and recoverable using something like the Norton Utilities.
