P2 card reader option

I don't think so. In order to work with P2 cards, the reader has to support Cardbus. There is no mention of this in the ad.

FYI: Cardbus is the 32bit version of PCMCIA. When looking at a PCMCIA device, the small gold bumps at the top of the card signify that it is a Cardbus card. Notice that none of the cards in the ad's photo have such bumps...

I don't think it will. I had a one-slot Addonics and it didn't work at all, I think in retrospect that it's probably designed for 16-bit cards.

The card reader needs to support 32-bit CardBus connection as stated above. This means that all of the front-end 5.25" inch solutions I've seen anywhere will not work. I don't know how Panasonic is interfacing it with their $2500 model but if you want it on the cheap ~(25$) you'll have to put it in the back of your computer where a nice solid connection is available through PCI direct to the motherboard. This should work.

Someone said that the Panasonic one is so dang expensive specifically because of this issue. It's actually supposedly a full computer/PCI board set in there, with a USB2 controller. So it's not just a slot reader... that may explain how they get around the limitation.
