P2 Card problem

Just downloaded a job into Avid and formatted my 16G P2 card. Now, no matter what I do it shows only 17 minutes of space left although it should show 40 minutes. This is in 720 24P mode, although it shows 17 minutes in any hi-def mode I choose. I checked and there are no phantom clips on the card that I can see. As a test I recorded at 720 24P and sure enough it ran out of space at 17 minutes. Has my card gone bad?

Try 24PN.

Tried every one 1080 and 720, always says I have 17 minutes left - tried 720 24p, too.

Is it 720 24P or 720 24pN? There's a difference. If it's 24P instead of 24pN, then 17 minutes is right. You want 24pN. That records only 23.976 full frames per second, whereas 24P records the 24p frames embedded in a 59.94 stream, thus taking up the extra space.
