Hi OZFish,
Yes my 32gig Fuji card was well under $2000inc GST, Just think , to now fill my five slots in my camera with 64 gigers would cost , $20,975. The "amazing technology" built into these P2 cards is only surpassed by the "amazing expense".
( I could buy nearly 600 xdcam disc's for that cost)

If I were to buy any more I would get them imported from B & H in the US.

"Fires" are in north central Vic, (I'm located in the north west of vic), I shot a FTP News piece early sat on the developing dust storm and 47degree heat that was heading direct to central vic . Very Very sad that so many people have lost their lives fleeing this incredible fast moving inferno.
Let's hope their can be some good come out disasters like this, and just maybe not happen again.

Karratha, has it's economic issues too we hear?

Cheers

Hi Tom,
Only a slight downturn in economic fortunes for Karratha,Iron ore industry contracting a little bit. fortunatley i work in Oil and Gas ,so have, as yet not been affected.
Seems trivial to even worry about, with what people are going through in your home state.
On a brighter note looking forward to using the new camera and the P2 workflow
for my next fishing adventure in PNG.

Hi OZfish
I did a shoot in PNG about ten years ago with a DSR200, worked great, it's a very Green landscape, and the people are great. Only issue I had was the camera got splashed/sprayed a few times with sea water, and on my return most of the metal screws began to rust, so I sold it and stepped up to the DRS300 for two years, then stepped up to the DRS570, now I use the SPX800 it's now worth much less than half the cost of 5 - 64 gig cards.
This newer technology in video today (IMO) is only good for a couple of years at the most, If you can't return it's value in say 12 months, don't buy it.

Cheers

Hi Tom,
Agree with the sentiment, electronics seem to be developing at an exponential rate.
I try and do two DVD's a year and if I get 2-3 years out of the camera I will be happy.
Currently have 5 dvd's in distribution plus a box set, glorified hobbie for me.
not relying on them for my income.
I am a one man band, and most of the guy's on here would probably be horrified at my lack of knowledge and training, but each of my DVD's have made a profit and I have an Australian distributor. Go figure!
Regards
