P2 capture on set

They are Them

man, it is so nuts trying to choose between the two cams, JVC or Panasonic ESPECIALLY now that i have approval to pick one or the other.

so from what i understand PPro needs to catch up for capturing P2 hd footage (thats issue number1) so it seems i'll have to become MAC based

when i am in a situation, like shooting on a helicopter, or on a beach or in a forest or anything like that...do i have to bring a laptop (i guess a mac laptop) with me and every like 4 minutes of HD capture dump it on my laptop, empty the card and continue?

We use the P2Store with 3-4GB P2 cards for our documentary and interview work. Dumping to the P2Store takes about six minutes in verify mode, so you'll be constantly swapping these smaller cards.

Raylight from DVFilm converts .MXF files into a friendlier AVI format for use in Vegas and other apps that support AVI.

so say i have x2 cards in my cam, can i swap out the full one as the second one is filling up in camera? and wiht the P2store (which is cool) that is basically the main hub of info. so when you go to dump all your footage in to your NLE for cutting, it's just stored on the P2store not your cards?

Yessir, the camera displays the card that is being written to as a flashing orange LED. It begins to flash green when it's full and ready to be removed. The full card will also display a "F" in the viewfinder instead of the usual "1" or "2".

At that point, the second card will be flashing orange as it is recorded. Dumping the footage from the full card to the P2 is a simple matter of pressing (2 seconds or so) one "START" button and watching for the download meter to hit "100" (five green LEDs).

As it is downloading to the P2Store, the five progress / % LEDs will blink or go solid as the corresponding percentage is saved to the hard drive. Blinking green indicates that that percentage is writing, solid green means it is done.

Once it is finished (five LEDs solid green @ 100%) then you can eject and re-insert the card to erase and format it for more footage. It is a very quick operation, requiring two buttons to confirm so you don't accidentally erase a card's contents.

Insert the card into the camera and it'll add the available space to your "REMAINING" counter.

Are the partitions on the P2 Store set up for 4GB cards or 8GB cards? Is that changable?
