P2 beep issue - is the repair still valid?

I went through the sticky above to see what to do with the P2 issue, but I just noticed the thread is over a year old. I did follow Jan's post, and I emailed the service department at Panasonic, but I am still waiting to hear back from them. I'm just checking to see if this is still valid, or if maybe the service department hasn't had a chance to get back to me yet. Any ideas? I have the HVX200a. Here's Jan's post from the sticky above:

Hi,

We have been analyzing the problem and those of you that are experiencing the problem should contact pbtscservice@us.panasonic.com. Please include your serial number, name of your dealer, your physical location, i. e. LA, NYC, or where ever and all contact info. (This helps to determine where to send your camera, Secaucus or LA.) They will tell you where to send your camera.

I hope this helps,

Jan

I'm pretty sure that no HVX200A will have the problem. Not 110% certain, but 99.9% certain. This was an issue with occasional HVX200s, but I would be startled and surprised if any HVX200A had the issue.

Thanks for the reply Barry. On my HVX200a, when I record I hear a soft "squeaky hamster-wheel" sound, even if I don't have my mics plugged into the lines. Is this the same issue that everyone else was having with the HVX200's, or is this different?

Update:
I switched the P2 card into the number 2 P2 slot and I don't hear that noise anymore, so it only occurs in my number 1 P2 slot. I only have one card at the moment, so this is ok for now.

So, I'm now two years late on this issue. I have an hvx200 bought from an authorized Panasonic dealer a couple years back and an audio guy just pointed out that he heard the repeated beep problem a few months back. He thought it was a headphone issue and wouldn't record to footage, but last week I heard some footage I shot and picked out the faint repeating beeping. Today I spent some time intently listening to my camera and it's definitely there. Regardless of input, regardless of P2 Card slot.

I've sent out an email to pbtscservice@us.panasonic.com based on Jan's post, but I'm concerned that I've missed out on these repairs. I'm not sure how long the problem has lasted, I don't usually edit my footage. But I can't work with a camera that can't record proper audio regardless if editors are picking up on it. It's bad timing too, as I still use my HVX a lot, yet will probably buy the ag-af100 when it comes out in 6 months and can't be without a camera for that long.

Anyone know anything? Barry? Jan? I'm really hoping this repair offer still exists...

Ok, I got concerned too quickly. They responded to my email with instructions on getting repairs just now. Looks like it will take 5-6 days for the repair, then shipped back 2-day UPS.

Benny, did your camera just suddenly start making the beeping noise after years of use? Also, $120 is a lot for shipping! Didn't yours just get sent down to LA?

It went to New Jersey and that was the price with UPS insurance.

I just haven't used the camera that much with the 16 P2 card. Had them for a couple years but I use a different camera for work and just mess around with my HVX.

For everyone's info, my camera went out, was repaired and then sent back to me. I tested it before I really needed the camera and heard no beep. Went to use it in the field and the top slot still beeped with a 16gb R series card although much quieter now then before I sent it for repair. No beep on either slot when using a 32 gb A series.

Just thought I'd put it out there.
