As you may or may not know, there is a DVX user group meeting April 7th with a special screening of members projects. It has been difficult to judge how many people will bring in videos so as a backup Panasonic will showcase their new HD p2 Camcorder and Varicam Pro Camera.

For info on the P2 check this out:

I'm hoping people will bring lots of videos to the event.
For more info please check previous thread on the second Toronto group meeting in this Forum

Thanks
Peter

That article you linked to is completely unrelated to the camera that Panasonic is introducing.

Are you saying that Panasonic will be bringing the actual P2 camera to your user group, 11 days before its announcement at NAB? That would be an unprecedented scoop!

Hi Barry

Well, according to my Canadian Contact at Panasonic he wrote me an email
and I quote:

"Peter,

Sounds good. I have booked Varicam and P2 for the event, so we will have some toys to play with.

No problem with prizes.

Thanks for the feedback."

Now unless Panasonic has another P2 in standard form, I don't know what to tell you.

Peter

He could be referring to the SPX800, which uses P2. Pretty sure that the HDX is making its debut at NAB.

But I hope you're right. Let us know. :)

That's what I'd guess. P2 is an existing format, and the SPX800 is an existing camera. They may be making a presentation on P2 technology, but if they're presenting the new P2 camera, you'll have the news scoop of the year!

OK guys,

Sorry for the confusion. The HD P2 WONT be at the meeting.

The current P2 camera, and supporting technology will be demoed at the meeting.

This is the future of television.

Peter
