P2 and Raid5

Hi,

as far as I know, P2-cards are all Raid5. I've never had troubles with P2 cards, so I don't know that:
What happens, one segment of the storage fails? I know, Raid5 meens so far no data is lost, but how do I know, that one segment is broken and the card need to be replaced? Does the camera tells me that or is it necessary to use the P2-Content Software on the computer to get this information? (which I usually do not use, just copy and paste all the files)

Thanks!

best

I am not sure as I have never had a P2 card fail but I would imagine if it did that the camera would tell me during format or when I was loading it into final cut pro as a native import it would not recognise the files and directory structure.

if you do not know you need to copy all the directory structure and not just the video files, I normally do a clone copy and verify of each card rather than just drag and drop to another drive.
