P2 8Gig slashed price in Europe starting 2007

How? by browsing the item search tool (guessing in Japanese. haha.) !

Yen is low against US $ (and I think Japan overall pricing is higher), but you can remember 1400 is the introductory 8Gig price in the US, If I remember well.

You see, you can buy online thru serious dealers in the 3 global regions (for this kind of products).

Actually the price of an 8gb in the US was originally over $2200 then it dropped to around $1400 for a while then down to around $1100.

I bought my hvx at system 5. The price of the cam was so low...but the price for the p2 cards was no bargain at all. This was true for all the accesories as well. Maybe they makeup for the price of the cam that way.
Anyway, i got to spend a nice time in japan and still saved money compared to the price of the cam here in canada.
-Hvx in canada +-6000$cad with 15% salestax=+-6950$cad
-HVX in japan 4750$cad no tax.

Jenny Paris are you sure that store in Paris would ship the 8gP2 abroad....it seems theyre online shop is only for french residents....

Is the french shop does nor ship abroad, please read in the thread the german fellows who announced same price to be set in german shop.

My correspondant at System5, a large pro AV, and Panasonic auth. reseller in Japan informed me that:

" 16GB P2card is largely behind with release so that a format is changed in FAT32 from FAT16.
It is a plan after April at the earliest."

We cannot conclude anything about availability neither in Europe, nor US!

is it good that the formay is changed from FAT16 to Fat 32 ?????

Bigger is always better!
No, seriously, I don't knew what he means, but 2Q07 for 16Gig in Japan is interesting, to be //ed with US/Europe 16Gig release.

Hmmm...thats a lot of rumours,

id really like to hear someone from panny(Jan??) to talk about this..!

I see the upcoming price-drop for the 8 giggers and the rumours that the 16BG are announced to bounce in in a bout 3 weeks in australia, but i would be really surprised if it happens like that...!

Looks like we have to wait even more for 16 gig!

128Gb in the year 2027 folks..relax!

Yes, 550 € is the confirmed price. They said all dealers will be informed this week (which means by tomorrow).
What? You asked jwfilm to be confirmed by Pana Germany about the 550€ german price. This is already something!

Now, it is true, 16 Gig P2 release date can just be speculated !

At least, the certainty is:

"You can have 4 x 8 Gig TODAY for 2200 € (Out of VAT), The 8Gig P2 US introductory price!".

P2 8 Giga dropped to 550 € (out of VAT) starting 2nd January 2007 in France (and presumably in Europe).

2 Panny distris gave same announcement and same price.

Have been told that 16Giga avail 2nd quarter (They could be 1000€ or less (out of VAT).

It would be non sense that this would be limited to Europe (Online buying & grey market).

Jennyfer.
Despite what everyone is saying about the price converted in USD that doesn't mean that will be the US price.

There are several options Panasonic's Sales Managers have including pricing the 8Gig card at $550 US Dollars.

Think not?

Mercedes does it with their vehicles in Euros vs Dollars AND in Great British Pounds as well. When adjusted for GBP the price is twice what it is here in the States!

The bottom line is we will know when we know.

Personally I would like to see some competition with P2 being manufactured by competitors but it is what it is.

P2 in USD is about 725 TODAY, if you afford buying in France/Germany.

Lot of people buy Mercedes in Germany and bring them to France.

All buyers can take advantage of cross market, when they dare doing it.

sounds great, but they don't ship out of france - who is the german dealer? I'm loocated in denmark and dealers here confirm a price drop but have non in stock yet. Where can I order in europe?

Thanks

Good news! Now 3 European countries confirm the drop:
France, Germany & Denmark.

Ask the german fellows in above posts in this thread, they said the drop will be effective soon at German dealers.

Did Denmark dealers give the 550€ (out of VAT) price?

No, I didn't get a price, just a "don't purchase anything as a dramatic price drop will happen in the beginning of january". Problem is I really need a P2 card, I just got the HVX and have no way of testing it without a card. The HVX is just sitting there; laughing at me. I'm about desperate and almost tempted to get a 4gb card with the "old" pricetag just to get started.

If you have -or know someone with- FCP and a mac you can 'tether' a shot directly in the mac. Just to cool down and to start with something to look at.

Thanks, using the Log and Capture window? I will try that, didn't think that would work with HD. I do have a MBP with FCP.

It does work with HD, just not 720pN mode, so use 1080 or use the regular 720p mode.

Do you ever shoot tethered to your PC?

If so, what's the best set up hardware/software in your experience?

Any peculiarities or idiosyncrasies?
