P2 8GB Cards?

Does anyone know if the P2 8GB cards have started to become more readily available or are they still extremely hard to come by?

I am pretty sure most dealers are out of stock on 8GB P2 cards. B&H doesn't have them currently, they are taking orders though. Good luck finding them.

I saw some on ebay... but they're pricier than most stores...
The bright side is that they apparently do have them in stock. :)

I have two unopened 8gig cards I got today. (long story). If anyone is interested e-mail me at

After getting my first 8gig cards, I was much happier with my HVX!!!
I'm probably going to sell them at $1,450 each to cover my handling. Don't need to sell them, but not much need to have them around either since I already have 2.
Just an option.

I ordered my camera from B&H in December. I just got the included 2 8GB cards a few days ago. That was one heck of a long wait.

Having 16GB to work with now is tremendous!

I currently find 4 gigs more attractive since:

1. Given the price, you actually get more gigs for your buck.
2. You can easily back them up on a single layered dvd.

I also find this a very attractive feature. Simply backup to inexpensive DVD-R 4.7 GB discs. It's perfect for the 4 GB P2 Cards. Lovin' it! :love4:

I wish I was a responsible enough shooter to use the 4GB cards, but I don't come from a film background and my shooting ratio is crap. I really need the 8GB cards.

So... basically, instead of changing my ways, I'd rather spend more money and cater to a bad habit. ;)

promax has some. I am getting my camera tomorrow and know they have some in stock. Better hurry though. www.promax.com
More than likely to find out you will have to call. But they should cut you a small deal.

I can't argue with point number one, because it's true. :D

BUT on point number 2, I thought that with FAT 32, no single file could be larger than 4GB. If you shoot beyond the 4GB point, the camera splits it off into a second clip. (This is what I recall, but I'm not 100% sure.)

I don't think the 4 gig cards are actually 4 gigs. I think they are more like 3.7 gigs.

yes... I get 3.6-3.7 on each card. Barry had said that there was some kind of data that goes on the card as well reducing the size slightly...

I also saw that the 4 gig card prices got lowered to 550. Anyone confirm that or know of a place selling them for that? I need to get atleast one more... and then another in a month or less..
