Own Canon FD 50mm 1.8, which lens for wide look?

Hello, I love my 50mm 1.8 lens but it's more for closeups now I want a wide lens for under $100. Do I need to stick to Canon FD's to keep the same look with both lenses? Will the FD 28mm give me a much wider look?

Thanks!

For a wide you'd need something in the 12-20mm and even then it's not the widest. We have the 25mm voigtlander which really isn't that wide.

get the fd 20mm 2.8
pretty wide for my needs, cinematic stuff.. but if you need really wide than it's not very extreme.

the Canon 20mm f2.8 FD is pretty wide, not super wide but pretty wide compared to using the 50mm, and it can be picked up for an ok price.

you don't have to stick to FD lenses but each lens maker will have a slightly different look, its half the fun of experimenting with different makers of the old manual lenses.

i ended up going for a FD prime set to cover most focal lengths.

20mm f2.8
24mm f2.8
28mm f2.8
35mm f3.5 & f2
50mm f1.4 & f1.2L (holy s**t this lens is wild! sharp wide open!)
55mm f1.2 (soft wide open, sold on)
85mm f1.8
100mm f2.8

i wanted to get a set of cheap prime lenses so i went for good old canon FD's, cheap and not too bad.

thanks guys! how about the Vivitar 28mm f2.8? looks like the 20mm f2.8 Canon FD is over my budget on ebay

Vivitar 28mm 2.0 Komine Close Focus FD mount. Good center focus at 2.0. Gotta use a hood or matte box to avoid ugly flares. I'm glad I didn't sell it. It's my favorite indoor video lens. Currently no where to be found.

you should be able to pick up a 28mm f2.8 canon fd for around $40ish on ebay, not super wide but still a big difference from the 50mm, good lens too.
