Overscan Question

Hi all,

Quick question: I just acquired a DVX100P and I'm wondering if there's any way to see full frame on the device, either in-camera or with an external device. I intend to shoot for the web, so it is rather difficult for me to frame and be vigilant with the outermost part of the picture when I literally cannot see it.

Dunno if this will help. I have a dvx100b (PAL) and the manual (pg. 75) says, "There is a 10% overscan on the LCD when the setting is 16:9 (but not on the viewfinder). You will see the whole image on both the LCD and viewfinder when the setting is 4:3."

Hi norvan5, thanks for looking up this information for me. I am aware that one of the key improvements of the DVX100B is that it offers full-frame viewing instead of the overscan standard that most prosumer cameras back in the day used, but I am not sure if that standard could be somehow overrode on the DVX100P, either in-camera through some kind of tweak, or via some external attachment, like an add-on viewing device or something of the like. Seeing that my output is for the web, it is rather important that I be able to, or to the best of my ability, be able to frame while onsite that outer edge, such that no distractions can be made apparent (for example, the edge of a boom mic, or some wayward tree branch, etc.)
