Overlay Gun Shot Wound

Is it possible to overlay a gun shot wound to the head of a foam manequin head filled with fake blood onto the head of a real actor in post? In theory i think it can work since i was looking into the rubber stamp feature used with other things. If you can erase a plane in a sky by overlaying a clean section of sky i dont see why it cant apply with this as well. i would just like confirmation.

yup.

For example have the manequin head painted blue, and shoot the whoel thign on a blue backdrop, from an angle that matches your real actor.

Then blow the manequin's brains out and you will have all the flyign blood and guts over a blue background that you can initially bluescreen onto your scene, and then tough up with some filtering & rotoscoping.
