Over exposing my footage, what am I doing wrong?

I am using FCP. I might have a play with Knee: Max Point= & Sensitivity= in the menu before my shoot. Can't wait to test it out this Saturday.

Before you throw yourself into the unrewarding world of Knee and Slope settings we haven't got to the bottom of whether your highlight detail is just being clipped. There are plenty of other avenues to explore before knees, slopes and auto knee settings.

The FS700 has several CineGamma settings that extend the dynamic range and setting a different one may prove all that is necessary.

Let us know what the Profile settings you used so those that are familiar with the FS700 gammas can offer you advice. Also take a screen grab of your Waveforms so we can see if you are clipping your whites. You said you wanted to explore grading, reclaiming illegal white detail could be your first step in that direction.

I have looked at your work on Vimeo and you've got some very impressive work there already. You obviously have a natural talent and your exposure looks bang on to me.
