Over crank darker then not over crank, same preset?

Why is the image getting darker when I select over crank (VFR ON/50Frame in Intra100/25PN, in 720-50P mode)

I use these presets "DIGNEG" or "NATURAL" when all settings are exactly the same as when I doe straight 25p (not over crank)?

Experts will be here soon I'm sure....but isn't it just because when overcranking you are exposing each frame less.

It's because you have the shutter set on "syncro scan", so the shutter speed tracks with the frame rate. If you want, you could set a fixed shutter speed (like 1/50th) and your overcrank footage would be exposed exactly the same as your normal-speed footage, but the problem there is that it'll look blurrier in motion. The Syncro Scan shutter speed gives the most filmlike motion rendition when going to overcranked footage.

I use 1/60th or 1/100th shutter when doing a speed ramp during a take with my HPX2700, otherwise, if I left it in 180 degree shutter, I would see exposure changes when the frame rates changed, as Barry posted.
