outputing SD out of the SDI port?

I have the HPX170 and I want to find out if I can output SD (for monitor ONLY) out of the SDI port. I have gone into the menu and switched AV output to 480i and to auto but still no signal. I can see the SD output over the RCA composite output. But when I use a bnc nothing.. Anything I'm missing. I was shooting 720p30pn. I thought it could downconvert for viewing only. I still want to record to P2 at 720 or 1080 to my P2 cards. This is just for a reference monitor.

Yes it can definitely output SD through the SDI port. Make sure your monitor has an SD-SDI input; BNC can be used for composite as well as SDI (and, well, for component too...) so make sure you're connecting to an SDI input on the monitor.

Ahh. Thanks. That was probably the issue. The monitor may have had a BNC in -- but it probably was NOT SDI.
