is it possible to output to BetaSP (UVW 1800 deck) from one of the DVcards like Matrox RTX100 or the Canopus Storm 2 pro (has component monitor-out).
these cards do not generate a reference signal i think, so how would you be able to get into the Betadeck?
Theoretically, you should be able to connect one of the video analog outs to the ref input on the deck which should work just as well as a black burst.
This hasn't worked for me though and I've had to route the signal through a hardware switcher.
hmmm...what switchers do you use? did u try this with the Storm or the R.tx? i use PAL but that should not make a difference.
the Storm specifications say it has a "merged" YC-SVideo output. shouln´t that include the ref signal?
there are black burst generators for around $ 200 out there. do you use one of them or an expensive switchbox with all sorts of in- out- and conversions? they go for $ 2000 and up...
just found out that Liquid Edition 6 Pro comes out in a few days. it will include a breakoutbox with composite, S-Video and Component I/O for an astounding 999 only (software and box!).
i might go with that since they seem to certainly support BetaSP.
but i am still interested in the storm for the time when BetaSP leaves our office!
I have an old Trinity switcher (mostly a big door stop these days). So, YC out of the Storm card to the switcher, and component out from the switcher to the Beta deck. Blackburst feeds the switcher and deck. A blackburst generator wouldn't do any good in your case because the Storm card has no reference input. (My old DPS Perception card did, which was nice).
The UVW decks are very sensitive about what you feed them. You should be able to plug into the YC connector with nothing else and get a good recording but it doesn't work. The timing problems will be obvious when you play back the tape. Maybe the component outs on Storm2 Pro+ are adequate.

well the techsupport told: "you won´t get a valid signal for a UVW."
so the storm is out of my decision. i got a "100% works with UVW1800" from pinnacle and the Liquid Edition Pro 6 (with component I/O and uncompressed 4:2:2 codecs!). so when i need BetaSP it looks like the LE6.0 takes good care of me.....especially for 999....a bargain relatively....
